2013 rockwood 8082ws entry door problems

I have had trouble with my entry door on 8082ws . The strut that dampens the door has tore loose from door from wind event catching the door . I have repair this twice before and it has damaged the door . I'm sure others have ran into this problem , what did you do to remedy this situation ! Other models probably use this set up ! Thanks

If it is tearing out the screws that hold the strut I think I would fabricate a sheet metal plate to go on the outside and inside of the door and thru bolt the attaching plate for the strut.
