2018 Rockwood front window issues

Hi all first time here. Recently bought a 2018 Rockwood and love the trailer but on the first trip a rock hit the front window and cracked it. Now normally i wouldnt think twice because things happen BUT when i was getting it repaired the tech told me he has been getting a lot of Rockwoods in with stress cracks. Has anyone had this issue with their front window? Thanks and happy travels Randy

Welcome to the forum its a great place to get your questions answered. You may want to consider installing something like rock tamers on your TV to prevent rocks from hitting your rig. Give the search function at the upper right a try and see what comes up I have not heard of front windows cracking.

Yes I just got one today. It was on my Rockwood 2604WS. The front window. A crack from the top diagonally to the bottom. Just showed up sitting on my driveway. Last time I used my trailer was one month ago. I called the place where I bought it from and told me they had replaced 3 front windows already this year. Told me they were defects in 2018 windows. I need to use it less than a week and I doubt it will be repaired that quick. A couple Forest River service departments I contacted told me they will not honor warranty service on windows? I was floored. Could not believe it. I am very disappointed so far with this process.

Houston, was it covered by Forest River warranty? How did it crack? Was it on its own?

I am waiting for the FR dealership to let us know. It cracked sometime during this year's 5000 mile road trip. We had one low chip and one high chip then it cracked between the two, nearly center, vertically. I'll post when I get an answer.

I also have a 2703WS and have no chips on the front window at all and a crack going straight up the middle from the bottom travelling up. Has anyone had any luck on warranty?

Same here, mine just happened; the insurance will pay but only after my $500 deductible. My zero deductible Comprehensive did not cover it. Big bummer. Wish I knew a way to cover it or protect it somehow. I don't want to eliminate it or cover it permanently since I love the extra light and view when the murphy bed is down.

I put an 8 mil thick clear plastic film on mine. Not sure if it will prevent/minimize chips but I didn’t think it would hurt. Time will tell. Stress cracks on the other hand are a different cause. The film will not prevent that obviously.
