adjust awning pitch

Howdy all!
We have a '22 PUMA with an electric awning. Our first time out I was able to adjust the pitch on one end to allow for rain runoff. Sone then both pitch arms will not lock in the fully extended position - rather they both bend. Can I tighten the nut and bolts to get one end to stay extended?
Thanks much in advance.

Yes, you can.
Don't tighten them so tight they they won't pivot under the weight of rainwater that can pool on the awning.
