Awning doesn't keep Rain off Door Step

We have a 2015 Wildcat Maxx Fifth wheel trailer that we love love love... unfortunately when it rains the awning does not manage to keep rain off the steps... we did have a misadventure with a wind storm the first summer we had our trailer in Idaho and the awning was ripped off our trailer... but insurance replaced awning. The first summer, we had no rain that we could remember, but last summer (our second summer) we had some and every time the awning did not keep the rain off the step. It seems like it doesn't seem to hang quite over the step.

My issue or question is to try to determine if this is an engineering defect with our trailer... or did the insurance repair not install the awning far enough to the right... I have some pics if anyone wants to provide me some feedback...

First welcome to the forum. What does the opposite end of awning look like. Seeing how pics look like from phone they are side ways and hard to tell if you have another slide next to the awning. Looks like it may have not been slid over far enough over door. I have a similar issue but I have a slide by the main awning but also have an awning and the two leave a small gap between the two so I get rain on step running off awning. Later RJD

thanks for the welcome. The opposite end of the awning is at the front of the trailer... sorry for side ways...I will try to rotate them. There is a slide to the left of the awning/door but no awning over the slide.

I have reposted pics here and one of the front of the trailer (ignore the fading cap.... we are working with FR on it to get it repaired.. . sigh) so you can see the opposite end of the awning... closed but still the opposite

Looks like the awning needs to be re centered. Looks like it could be moved towards the door. If I recall there are screws holding it in place at the top of the awning. I'm not quite sure how to adjust but I'm sure some others will chime in with the answer. Later RJD

Other than sliding the awning over slightly in the track, I don't see a whole lot that you can do.

My Cardinal is similar to your set up and I have same problem. My awning is oem.

I bring the awning back in when it rains so when the wind picks up it doesn't get ripped off.

Doesn't that defeat part of the purpose of having an awning? There are ways to secure it.

All of us that have the slide right next to the entry door experience this to some point. Moving your awning material the few inches possible won't accomplish much, but what the hey ... give that a try.

If it were me, I would remove the screws in the awning rail that hold the awning material, deploy the awning and slide the material all the way to the left as close to the tube end cap as it would go and then re-install the screws in the awning rail and pop rivet thru the hem at the tube on both ends. That will give you a little more cover for the steps/door.

Mine is the same. There is a gap. Just jump out the door to left and voila, you don't get wet. You would probably have to deal with a broken leg, ankle....maybe...

There was no screw holding the awning in place on our old Flagstaff TT,,, the material could be pulled to one end,,, or the other !!! The awning on our Sunseeker 2500TS is very close to not covering the door,,, much like this,,, but it is installed in the only place it could be !!!

It seems that (some) units with rear/side entry doors have a problem when it comes to rain....mine included.
My unit's door is covered by the awning but does not provide any 'extra' coverage from blowing rain from the side.

My solution was to add a section of tarp material to prevent the rain hitting the door. It keeps the step carpets dry, provides some privacy if the door is open and is easy to put up or take down...and does not cost much.

Pictures don't show that the tarp wraps over the awning arm and 'clamps' to the awning using plastic spring clamps.

Along this same line look up OCW-Bob's "End Shade/Anti-Defapper Poles" They will give the additional support to "Adapt" a cover for what you are trying to Accomplish! Youroo!!
