Awning not able to roll

When bringing the awning in, half way the material starts to gather in the center and won’t roll in. I slowly let it out and bring it back in, after a few times it does come in. I feel it is pulling tight. How do I line it back up? Used it maybe 12 times. Always bring it in at night, leaving and raining. Nothing is laying on top. Thanks for any help

Is your awning manual or electric?

assuming you have an electric awning...

often the fabric at the awning roller end will shift a little left or right, and when it tries to roll up the fabric gathers toward the middle as you describe... so look carefully as the roll starts to pull in the awning...
first, it should be rolling the fabric over the top of the tube not from under the tube...
second, watch that the fabric is rolling evenly side to side

If it is not rolling evenly and is starting to gather fabric toward the middle, is the roll of fabric even on the rolled edges?

If not then unroll, and pull on the fabric where it attaches to the tube and it should slide a bit one way or the other. Get it as straight as you can with respect to the trailer.

ALSO, are both arms allowed to slide? That is, the hand tightening mechanism ( the knob) on the arms should be a little loose, so that both arms are equal length when the awning starts to roll in.

Watch carefully when rolling in and see if that fabric is shifted in the tube and whether or not the arms are loose and allowed to slide to be equal length.

Please report back your observations.
