Awning over slide

Our Catalina 293RLDS has the awning mounted above the slide which I think is uncommon and a terrible idea. The problem is that any sag in the awning, which is unavoidable, causes the awning to rub against the top outboard edge of the slide causing it to wear. Adjusting the awning for rain drainage makes thinks worse. Most trailers I see mount the awning on the non-slide side. Agree?

Lots of models have the main awning over the slide and there seem to be varying sentiments from owners as to whether they like it. It isn't uncommon at all.

If the awning was attached higher in some cases it would be better as far as rubbing but they dont always do that.

Many folks report using a pool noodle on the slide out flange to help with the rubbing.

If your awning was mounted on the opposite side of the R/V, you wouldn't be able to use it many places as most sites in campgrounds are designed to have more room on the passenger side of the rig.
