Awning Replacement
I have a 2019 MicroLite 25 BDS that is approximately 16 months out of warranty. I purchased it new on April 4, 2019. Around 4 months ago, I noticed a pin hole size opening in my awning. Puzzled, I could not explain how it appeared especially since I had only used the trailer for 3 camping trips. I assumed I must have nicked it somehow and decided to place a strip of repair tape to keep the small hole from expanding. Recently, I examined the awning and now I have approximately 16 pin-sized holes in the awning!
I decided to contact Forest River Warranty and file a claim. After speaking with a claims rep and a claims manager, I submitted pictures of the pinholes and argued that the fabric must be defective. Although the warranty period has passed, I argued that the fabric should have lasted years....not months and the awning fabric is defective. FR has not denied the claim but they are dragging their feet on resolution of the claim.
The process has made me lose respect for Forest River. I love my MicroLite in every way with the exception of the lousy awning fabric they installed on my unit. I had a Jayco Eagle TT for 9 years and the awning fabric looked brand new when I sold it. I've owned 4 previous travel trailers and none of them developed pin-hole sized tears.
Any recommendations on the best awning fabric to replace the one on my trailer? Thanks.
