Some folks don’t believe it, but an awning can unfurl during travel even though the arms are secured. The little ratcheting lever you move before you roll up/down the awning is the only thing that helps keep it from unfurling in the wind while you drive down the road (if it’s flipped in the right direction). Here’s our awning pull rod that’s been modified with a bend at the end to create a long “leg” that inserts into the accessory groove of the roller tube of the awning. A pair of Velcro straps keeps it in place while on the road. There’s no mistake, you can’t unroll the awning until this lock rod is removed. Awning lock rod still functions as an awning pull rod for the vertically challenged wife.
