Awning slow

We have a 2017 Forester by Forest River 3011DS. From the very beginning of getting this rig the awning has be extremely slow to go out and retract. We once thought we were not giving to be able to get it back in and have since not used it as we are in a 5 month tour and finding repairs is difficult. Is it suppose to be slow? Are we doing something wrong? Is the motor going out? Any help would be appreciated! Thanks.

It might have something to do with the spring tension...might need to be adjusted.

We have a 2017 Forester 2861DS and our extending or retracting our awning is very slow also. Never having had a motorized awning before, we just thought it was normal. Maybe not?

Try greasing the gears of the awning motor. If it is a solera it should take about 35 seconds to retract.

Thank you, ours is slower than 35 seconds. Much slower so we are going to try to get repairs, as its under warranty, at next stop in VA. We will be there for 5 days, wish us luck. (Plus DH is not mechanically inclined)

Do you have the knobs to tighten the awning to help it from moving up and down in breeze.when lowered. I'd check and make sure that these are loose when retracting. Later RJD

No knobs, from what I understand you're just supposed to have to pull it down and hold it and it catches and doesn't move.
