The awning strut on the awning acts like it is sticking when I'm rolling the awning up and makes a awful noise. I contacted the dealer and they said I could put WD-40 on the strut to help with the sticking. He did say if the WD-40 doesn't work they would probably have to put on a new strut. My question is won't the WD-40 attract dirt and make the strut worse? Should I use a dry lube as to not attract dirt to the strut.
I'm sure others have had this problem and what should I use to try and help.
I went out and wiped the strut.
The awning went out and back in with no problem.
I got to thinking that it had been raining before I rolled the back up. Could it be that the strut had some moisture on it and that is what made the strut sound so loud.
I had the same screeching noise from the awning strut. Took me awhile to figure where it was coming from. I sprayed teflon dry lube on the struts and the noise is gone.
