awning very slow retracting

WE have a 2304ks mini lite. When we retract awning it is very slow I almost have to help it back in that's how bad it has become. Any help would be appreciated don't know if it would come up if using battery power,

Thanks,

Check your battery. If your battery is low, it will probably have trouble retracting.

I have 2 batteries and mine is slow in both directions, shore power or not. I don’t have to help it though in really bad weather it makes ya nervous..

My Dometic was super slow too. Guys from Dometic tested voltage to motor, and it was only getting 8v on retract. Turned out to be a bad ground, the Forest River guys put the ground into a new terminal block/junction, whatever it's called and it seems to work better. It was slow on battery/shore power, whatever.

I'll have to get my meter on it this season and see what I can find. I've had a surprise storm or two blow up on us where retracting the awning quickly is very helpful.

I wouldn't say it got too much faster, but better than the snail crawl it used to be. Unless forecast says winds will be under 15mph, I bring it in. Read too many sad stories on the forum from people who didn't.

I used to hate to bring it in, especially overnight, because it helps keep dew/rain off bikes, camp chairs, etc. Now I bring a few tarps and don't count on using awning for said protection.

They pulled the panel off that had the awning switch and messed with wiring behind it. Wish I paid more attention.

A lot of the electric awnings are not supper fast. Most are slow probably due to gearing and motor size. Later RJD

Slow awning

You mentioned "don't know if it would come up if using battery power," please explain what you mean by that? I think all awnings use 12VDC!!
Seems the first step would be to check battery voltage (VOMeter) at the battery . You may also have an old tired battery that just wont take a good charge! I'm also wondering about a poor or bad ground. thats seems to be the cure for a lot of 12VDC issues. Good luck & please keep us all informed!
