Bad friction hinges

We’re having problems with our front door lock. It can be locked or unlocked, but it won’t open unless we apply great pressure on the door and then the lock will spring open. It was suggested that the friction hinges were bad/out of alignment, and we were told that the hinges are a common problem on Forest River RVs. Has anyone heard of or experienced problems with the front door lock?

Are there any scrape marks or gouging on the latch edge, bottom or top of the door or latch side, bottom plate or top plate of the door frame? If so, where is the scraping/gouging located. That will give some idea of what may be out of alignment.

Since Lippert is the primary supplier to nearly every RV manufacturer, it's not just a Forest River problem.
You'll find the same friction hinge complaints on many RV forums, not just here.
I had friction hinge issues on my 2016 TracerAir TT. PrimeTime had to order a complete new door/frame assembly from Lippert because the hinges weren't replaceable.
Forest River doesn't manufacturer the hinges.
