Birds hit the windows...a lot

Has anyone else had bird-strike? This won't happen for weeks, then suddenly every couple of days. The windows have a factory dark tint. I feel bad for the little suckers but it's going to give one of us a heart attack. Anyone had this and figured out a cure? We are in the Pacific Northwest

There are a variety of solutions on line although some will not work on an RV. You can try IR decals. See link.

We had a pair of mad cardinals attacking our windows.

The DW attached a couple of aluminum piepans to a string and draped that across the windows. That pretty much stopped them.

Our Trailer sits under a carport, away from the house, all winter. When we pulled it out this spring, the windows looked like the birds were actually 'walking' on them. so much mud shaped like little bird feet... Guess next winter I'm going to get a cover for the entire trailer, not just the roof.

The darn cardinals here are constantly fighting their reflections in everything! If the sun is up, they are attacking my RV but at least they can't land on it and poop everywhere. My vehicles are covered with bird crap where they fight. I've used pie pans, fake birds, bags, etc. They work for about 48 hours and then they are used to them. It's a big pain to remove these items every time you go somewhere too.

It seems they mostly come in pairs. I had cardinals hitting the windows, then go to a palm tree or feeder and come back. I euthanized one and eliminated the problem.

I have about 20 in my yard during the day. Everyone says they'll stop once mating season is over. I guess here they mate for 3 years straight LOL!

Not sure I could handle that anymore.

We had tons of cardinals while hosting in Georgia in April. They were great to watch, but had a few hit the glass. I'll try some of the ideas I've read in this thread next year. Thanks for all the suggestions.

We recently installed the fish variety of these on our house windows. No known bird strikes on the first ten windows. Will finish the install soon.

Seems to be a good solution. We were having bird strikes almost daily.

X2.

We had this problem a LOT at our mountain cabin. Several a day, and at least 1 or 2 per month died. We got the IR decals for the windows, and they prevented 99% of the strikes.

They DO have a limited lifespan...so they need to be replaced every so often. Follow package instructions.
