Canopy won't retract

Hello, when I bought my TT I was told that the canopy would not retract and I would need to roll it up by hand. I was looking for any ideas on what might be wrong before I take it apart. The previous owner said it worked until he replaced the fabric. He did say he retensioned the spring when putting it back together.

I assume you have a manual operated awning. For the best response we need to know who manufactured the awning, there should be a tag or serial number plate somewhere. Then I would suggest you do a Google search for a repair manual online or see if there is a You Tube video on the subject.
