Cheap LCI awning motor replacement
this is for the LCI awning with the external motor not the one in the tube . my awning just stopped working this week so after checking things out i found it was the motor .
pulled the motor off and took it apart to find out it was very corroded and one of the wires to the brush were broke form the corrosion so i re soldered it and it fixed it for now .
so i got to looking into a replacement one just to have on hand , i did find the factory replacement one from a price of 160 to 200 on e-bay but after some research on this form i found out it was just a power window motor with a modified motor shaft for the over ride nut on the top to run the awning out with a 7/16 socket and drill if it failed . so i searched power window motors and found a dorman part # 742-102 that is an exact fit as for bolt pattern and gear minus the external over ride nut but it is only around $40.00 . it has the same 12 tooth gear and bolt pattern and it worked perfect  i will keep the factory one for backup .
had to make two small female spade connectors because i did not have the plug that fit the new motor but that was easy and for 40 bucks a 1/4 of the cost of the factory one it was worth it . just thought i would share this for anyone that does not want to spend 200 for a factory replacement .

I am having intermittent issues with my motor. Can you explain how you removed the motor? I started to remove mine and then realized that the tension on the awning would be lost. How did you restore the tension during reinstallation?

Per Dorman:
Part 742-102 has been discontinued and has been replaced by part 742-141
Cardone also makes a couple motors -Part # 42-127 & Part # 82-127 for the select.
It is a motor out of a 1994 era Chevy Lumina if you need to dumb it down for others.
Thanks for the information! Mine is pretty much dead and under warranty, but the factory is taking FOREVER to ship it out and I'm going on a week long trip next weekend....

the large gear with the holes in it they dont go all the way through but just drill one through and put a small pin in it to hold it . i used an allen wrench .

summit has this one looks just like the one i got it has the 12 tooth gear .
dorman # 742-141 when i searched there site and yes it told me the other was not available and they showed this part # it should work fine .

yup new dorman part # for it is
Dorman 742-141
if you guys like to take things apart just pull the four screws and slide the cover off the armature and you will see the corrosion . mine had a broken brush wire off the thermo protector i believe is what that thing is ? you will see when you pull it apart .
i took the whole thing out and replaced it with a piece of 18 gauge wire .

Thanks! I just found the motor on Ebay for $31 shipped. Went ahead and took a chance that it will solve my problem.

I have 13v at the switch but motor doesnt work. How did you determine the motor was bad??

awning is confused
I have a Heritage Glenn 337BAR 2016. The awning motor is confused. Half the time it will not retract and when it is trying it is very slow. When I can get it retracted it works going backwards.

Disconnect the two 12 volt wires at the motor connectors found along the arm of the awning. Using an ohm meter measure the wires coming from the motor. An ohm meter should read fairly low.... I'm guessing 10 ohms??? If it shows a high reading (meg ohms) then the motor is bad. You can always double check by connecting 12 volts to the wires coming from the motor. If the motor works then you have a problem getting 12 volts to the motor. Check switches, fuses and connectors in that circuit.

I changed out the motor with a car window motor for $26. Motor went bad, 3 yrs old.
