Cleaning awning.

We have a Grey Wolf 26Rl and want to know how people clean off their awnings when camping. We don't have a ladder with us and we don't think the awning folds down in front to clean it.
Didn't t think of things like this when we bought it.
Thanks in advance if anyone has any ideas.
Tony.

Hi Tony,
Best way is to spray or mop your favorite solution onto the awning and then roll it up for awhile (at least 30 minutes) to soak. Unroll and wipe with a mop, rinse and allow to dry before rolling back up.

You might need to use a step ladder and a medium bristle brush for scrubbing tougher areas if mildew has appeared. Wear old clothes and goggles.

Thanks Scott, we will try that. I wish there was a way to release part of it so it would lower to the ground. I guess little things like this get to me.

I hope that helps you.

You can probably lower it somewhat by tilting the front down depending on the awning, but there is no good way to reach all of the underside without a ladder (unless you're 7' tall, of course)

If you have a manual awning and want to clean the top. Have a helper with you, extend the awning and then remove the arms from the trailer (there are clip on the wall that allow the arms to be removed). Lower the awning and let the arms go under the trailer. The awning will then be laying flat against the wall to the trailer. After cleaning awning put arms back into clip and enjoy your clean awning.

On our 26RL it was very easy to lower the arms a bit by using the "rain dump" feature. Pull down on the awning, one side at a time, tighten the little black knob and it is much lower. Still need a brush on telescoping handle to get the section about a third to the roof line. Bleach 5 to 1 (H20 5, bleach 1) will do a great job of cleaning. Spray it on, roll up the awning for 20-30 min, unroll, rinse BOTH top and bottom, let dry, DONE!

Thanks everyone. Now the issue is with a stain. Looks like it might be pollen stains. My black truck was yellow one weekend and I'm thinking the awning may have been wet in spots and now stained yellow. Doesn't want to come off, any ideas?

Dollar Store. There is a spray called LAs Awesome. It's a concentrated cleaner that is...awesome. Works great on everything!

I have found that (Dollar General) Mean Green Mold and Mildew Remover works great! Hit the tough spots with a magic erasure. I use the 303 AreoSpace Formula to prevent mold/mildew.
another tip: if you have the black streaks down the side of the camper the Campco Black Streak remover sucks, spray on full strength Simple Green and they melt away with a little help from a magic erasure they are gone completely.
