Damaged awning

We haven't talked a trip yet 1000 miles on Rv from delivery. The only thing we did was get gas so this is when it must have happened. The awning is scraped - few cuts, but the awning pole is dented and a rivet- is missing- I don't think the arm is damaged. My concern is while driving will vibrations etc loosen it more or cause other problems? Or should it be left as isClick image for larger version

That looks pretty bad to me. I would call my insurance company and have it replaced.

Does the awning roll in and out without issue? I damaged the rolled poll about midway one time and was able to straighten it somewhat and continued to sue it without problem. Yours, while damaged doesn't appear to be too bad.

Yup. Definitely leaned against something. Insurance should cover that. I shouldn't go anywhere but, you could sneak a strip of velcro around the arm just in case. We do it anyway just because we've heard too many horror stories about awnings unrolling while traveling. Look for a gap between the side of the TT and the awning channel then wrap it around the arm to keep it from loosening/unrolling.

Thanks for the responses we tested today and while it looks bad it rolled without a problem. Seamed to be straight - good news did not seem to effect arm. Great idea on the Velcro - that that was our concern - from vibration thought it could come loose- we havent taken one trip yet so by the time we've ready to go we should know what we are doing. We have learned a lot from the forum
