Door rubs awning
Have an auto extend/retract awning & the entry door rubs the awning (slightly) when opened. Not an immediate problem, but after a longer period of time may wear a spot on the awning. Anybody else experience this & if so what was your fix. Do not want to put a roller on door if there is another way to fix. Any info appreciated.

Had this problem with our previous trailer. We put a roller on the door.
Sorry, I don't know of any other solution.

I knew that's what ya'll were going to say. Had to do that on another TT we had, but really did not want to on this one. Oh well, ya gotta do what ya gotta do.

I shortened the distance of the stopper on the bottom of the door so that it would not allow the door to swing open so far. To do that I had to move the screwed on bracket on the door bottom and moved it forward slightly. This way the door opened to the stop which was not yet at 90 degrees... did not yet hit the awning, yet still allowed easy in and out.

No roller? Raise the whole awning assembly or cut the door off. Your only 3 choices.
Question, what's the big objection to a roller on the door?

maybe just loosen awning case and shim bottom slightly...may not take much to clear. or just raise case.

Thanks much for the replies. It barely touches, but I know it will eventually cause wear. I guess it's a roller.

What is the case? If you are referring to the roller, just how do you do that?

PaPa,release the awning switch just Before total deployment,You will have ample Clearance! I got my eye on you!  Youroo!!  Don't use a Roller/don't cut the Door off!

If you have a square corner on the door, you might try cutting a radius on the very corner.

If he has awning poles, when you snug down the ratchet straps, it will pull the awning out to full deployment.

Somebody needs to keep an eye on me; I'll be counting on you.
I think part of my problem is that awning has metal (aluminum) cover when rolled up. But when rolled out it rests on the awning about a foot out from the edge of the TT, putting pressure on awning. Gonna think about it a little more before I go with the dreaded roller.

my thoughts were, if the awning were one without side arms, by shimming the bottom of the case outward 1/16", you would prolly raise the extended awning a couple inches...

You were spot on. Rolled awning back in just a very little bit & it gave me about 1 1/2 inches of clearance. No roller & I don't need to cut the door off. I do appreciate all of your suggestions, much thanks.

If you have awning poles, you can just lift the tube up a little and then stake it down.

That's right,I have (Awning Support Poles) that I place then tighten the S it out of the hold down straps! I will lead you in the right direction!  Youroo!!
