Fixing a wee ding in the door

We just noticed a wee ding in the door - about the size of a quarter, it is pushed in a little (maybe 1/16-1/8"). No idea how this happened.

When I search for fiberglass repair what I am finding seemes aimed at much larger repairs. I am hoping there is a tube of something I can buy, spread over the ding, let it dry, sand it smooth and touch it up with some automotive paint (it is white).

I am presuming our door is fiberglass - it is a Rockwood Ultra Light Signature Series.

My wife was horrified by the damage (its a 2009 and we've not had that many nights camping in it). She wants me to take it to the body shop.

I seem to have her cheered up just a little by suggesting that if I an't match the white of the trailer (there are 100's of whites) then we just need to buy a big enough decal for the trailer. "Beware Trailer protected by dangerous poodle" or even "Welcome to our trailer" - it is the back door that goes into the bedroom, so maybe "Please Use Other Door" would be appropriate.

I even suggested a bandaid that said "ouch".

So is there an easy fix?

BTW we leave for a four week trip in three days. For the moment the ding is covered with some white electrical tape, no idea how well that will stick to the side of a trailer, but its there.

What's wrong with this picture? My concern, if the door is fiberglass covered, and you have a ding bad enough to want to fix, what is the integrity of the fiberglass around the ding? If the fiberglass is cracked, and moisture gets in, then it will de-laminate, and you will be looking for a new door.

Just a concern you might want to think about.
