How to manually retract automatic awning

I didn't want to hijack anyones thread, so I started this one. But I watched a video on YouTube showing using a wiring harness that comes with it that's connected to 12volts to extend and retract if necessary. Also, using an awning strap that they said also comes with the awning that slides into the grove and you get on a ladder and use an allen wrench to remove a screw. This allows the shaft to disengage from the motor and slowly releasing the strap, the awning will retract. Then you reinsert the screw with the allen wrench to lock the awning in place.
I don't see the power harness or awning strap in any of the things my dealer gave me when I did my PDI. I can surely pick both up for around $20 as a backup. But not sure what gauge wire to get?

Has anyone actually had to do this manual retract? So now I have to find a place to carry a ladder?
