It's awning something- won't retract

I have a 21' Dometic 9100 Power Awning. Yesterday, as we were setting up- I was putting the support poles under each end. I did the motor end first (facing the camper, right side) and started doing the spring end (left side).

As I was tightening the ratchet strap on the left-side, my son was hanging from the tail end of the ratchet strap on the right-side. I don't know which caused the issue, but we heard a bit of pop/bang and the awning extended itself slightly.

Now, when the switch is pressed- I can hear the motor engage and turn but the awning tube doesn't do anything more than lurch for the tiniest/briefest of moments.

When I removed the awning arm from the awning tube and turn the housing for the motor (like you would to unwind the torsion spring), I basically don't feel any resistance.

At this point, I think I need to (but am hesitant to) drill out the pop-rivets on the cap and start diagnosing this from the inside.

I have a video of the symptoms:

I also have various pictures, but I'm not sure what any will show beyond what the video shows.

Roll pin?

I can rotate that inner piece coming out of the awning tube and nothing happens.

Uh oh...

Look at that inner shaft.
It has an “ e” clip on it, that holds it in.
It sounds like the actual awning fabric has come off that inner shaft.

Pull the e clip off and drill out the rivets holding that white cap on.
Then you should be able to see what’s going on inside the tube.

As of now, I've ordered a $4-freaking-hundred dollar replacement motor and hope that fixes my issue. I pick it up tomorrow and will install it.

Fortunately the front of the site is super tight and I can tie the roller tube off to a tree.

Motor is installed and that fixed the issue.

I did have to buy a black motor and switch parts from the old to new setup. That was pretty straightforward.

There some wiring differences that I had a buddy cut off the pigtail and rewire it (the old arm end cap had a small hole for just bare wire to fit through but the new has a larger hole for the quick connect wire fitting to fit through). These were pretty easily addressed.
