Looking for a door window
I have a Forest River Salem Lite 201BHXL and the door has no window.
I would like to put a window in the door but need a window with a template.
Do all windows come with a template?
The descriptions are not very descriptive

You need to get a window frame if thats what you mean by template. Windows are normally sold without a frame because of the varied options. Order an inside and outside frame..
Here is an example.

If you end up going with the Slim Shade model, be sure to post on here what you think of it (quality-wise). I've been thinking about ordering that one for some time now. I saw the topic for this thread and jumped in here to recommend that one, knowing that it mentions having a template with it.

I just put one in a few weeks ago. Me and DW both like it. Install was very easy. Instructions said two people job, but did it by myself with packing tape as extra hands.

Slim Shades... direct replacement for existing or new install for newly cut. They do have a template for the cutouts.

Slim Shade has a window you can SEE out!
I've got mine sitting in my shop waiting for cooler weather so I can pull our trailer out of the shed and do the swap.
As mentioned- there is a cut out template on the back of the box if you don't already have a window.

Oh yes my Slim Shade is slightly tinted, clear see out window and when I want dark or privacy I slide the pleated shade down.

I just put one in the door of our Flagstaff 27RLWS and it’s fantastic, great mod and extremely easy to swap out!

Ok so I pulled the trigger and bought the Slim Shady through Amazon. Be here Weds. and I will install that night as we are heading out for the weekend.
Love the trailer but need more natural lighting and the ability to see out. Thanks for input and recommendations.
Will keep you posted[emoji2]

There isn't much to these doors. A Styrofoam core with a THIN plastic & fiberglass skin glued on. I used a Dremel tool to cut the opening one side at a time. I was hesitant to use a jig saw for fear of chipping or cracking the thin skin. Take your time & you'll do fine. A bead of clear silicone around the outside trim & squeeze into place to seal the outside.

I would like to add the Slim Shade also.
Those that have a screen door, how do you put the shade part up or down without opening the door and stepping outside?

That's the one down side. That's exactly what you have to do.

The window arrived yesterday when I was at work. It is two pieces of plastic, one piece of glass and a cheap cloth shade that feels like it would rip when moved. The gross profit on this must be 80%. With that being said, I am very happy with the purchase and final result.
The template comes on the box and you have to cut it out. Very easy to do unless you talk and cut. Then you cut more only to screw it up more. Yay I have problem with walking and chewing gum .
First thing I did after screwing up the template was to remove the door, this I did in complete silence [emoji6].
I laid the door on a couple saw horses. Trying to get the horses to stand still was a pain in the...you know where. [emoji1]
I took the exterior window and placed it on the exterior side of the door to get my distance from the top and sides. To get it evenly spaced and straight I used my drywall t square after making sure I had a straight edges on the door. Not perfect but close enough. For the rounded corners and to make sure the opening fit the exterior window, I placed it on the straight lines I had marked. The lines were spot on with the window for the opening.
I used a high speed air cutter to cut along the lines. Then a drywall serated edge cutter to go the rest of the way through. It is very sharp and cuts like a saw. It did not leave the inner edge with any jags or sharp spots. Within moments I was awarded with a pretty straight opening. What little residue was left over was quickly sanded down with very fine sand paper.
The window fit in with minimal adjustments on the hole and the window was in with no problem.
The screws are supposed to dead end so you do not strip the whole but we a couple of screws, at the the top of course, that the plastic threads just pulled out halfway in. This was fixed with fatter screws to make their own grooves as they were put in. I have to buy black ones though. The ones I put in do not match but I wanted to get the seals tight to set correctly. There is a preinstalled caulk rope around the window and another around frame. I am thinking of putting a bead of clear caulk around the frame.
To get rid of the marker lines, my son used marker eraser. Scribble it over the marker and wipe, easy peasey.
When all was said and done it came out pretty good.
And some what level to the door. The two pictures with the the black stripes is the top and bottom. The other is the door. The picture at the campsite is a before picture as you can tell. No window and that gosh awful sticker. Attachment 186352Attachment 186361Attachment 186362Attachment 186363Attachment 186364Attachment 186365Attachment 186366Attachment 186367
