Looking for recommendation for slide out awning: Apex or Dometic?

We have a Flagstaff MicroLite. Just starting to do research. Dometic prices seem reasonable. Don't know anything about Apex. Are there other brands? Can you point me to any reviews? Also can you comment on quality and ease of installation (DIY project)? Thanks.

Slide topper choice

Well, after some research, I decided to go with the Lippert Solera in white. There was a very good price on Amazon. The Dometic looked very good, and I guess is the best seller, but was over $100 more. I have a number of Lippert components on my MicroLite 21DS, so I guess you might say I'm staying in the family.

Would be interested in hearing people's experiences with their slide toppers.

Suggestin

Just saw your post and suggest RV Awnings, Patio Awnings & More - Carefree of Colorado as another choice to look at. My large Dometic is damaged and I wish I could have gotten a care free product on the trailer from factory. These folks also make window shades which I enjoyed on an older trailer my parents had.

Hope it's not to late. Good luck anyway.

Ended up with the Lippert. My wife and I installed it this past weekend. Can't say it was easy, but we like the final product very much.

There's quite a discussion about the Carefree brand here.

Take care

I will have to see about repairing mine I guess. Package on my trailer came with 21" Dometic and I found out the hard way it is to large for the arms. All it took was turning my back for a minute and the rear arm is now bent. Just be careful and enjoy.

I ordered these (Sunwave) from Amazon. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I needed two that were smaller. Ordered this one and then cut the two out of it. Ended up costing me $50 a piece. Installed them both by myself. Very easy. They look great and seem to be very good quality. Our third large slide awning looks good but I went ahead and ordered one for that too to hang on to. It also was only $100 so all in, I have $200 for all three slide awnings.

Next I need a new main awning. Will do that one after we get back from our vacation.
