Thumbs down Lost Speaker on awning

Just came back from Everglades and we had to go under some low hanging trees. Now our right speaker on the awning is gone. Can I leave as is or should I cover or replace?

I've never seen an RV with a speaker on the awning before.

What make/model do you have?

What sort of an RV has a speaker on the awning? Can you post a pic? Your Welcome PM has a pointer to forum instructions including posting pics.

Lippert makes them. Replacement speakers are available.

Probably means an outdoor speaker under the awning. I'd at least cover the holes..

My 2019 Forester 2861DS has the same set up. Both outdoor speakers are mounted on each side of the awning. I don't use them much. Prefer using to Sirius/XM satellite with the boom box. At least we get our NY Mets baseball games and a much better sound....

So now I’ve learned what sort of RV can have a speaker on the awning support. News to me!

Here’s my Solera awning speakers. Angled downward instead of outward.

I respect others if they’re nearby, but they’re okay for background music.

To the OP…..the right speaker housing also protects the awning motor from the elements, so I’d look into replacing it.

Never heard of awning speakers. Probably wouldn't use them anyway I rarely use the ones I have.

Awning Speaker

I do not use those speakers either but I don't want to short something out with wires open to the weather. Mine are like the other pictures shown. I will try and see if the pictured fix will work. Thanks. Next time I'm outside I will take a closeup pic of the problem. I do not have an owners manual so not sure what kind of speaker or system it is.

Just put wire nuts on the end of any exposed wires. Or even electrical tape. Or wire nuts and then tape them together.

I have the same system on my 2018 Forester Solero awning. So far (knock on wood) catching a tree limb that broke both of my plastic speaker enclosures is my only boo-boo in 5 years of ownership.

The sound from them is not "boom-box" quality plus I learned pretty early in our intro to RV'ing, you don't want to be the guy blasting his music across the campground so we never used ours.

I assume there's a "front" and "rear" case replacement option as the black tape I used to hide my damage is getting a bit tattered.

Awning speakers

I’m aware that more than one of the Forest River RVs brands have awnings with speakers attached. My Forester class C 2441DS has them. It’s true they don’t sound very good but it’s nice having them out there. If you have a television outside, like mine does, you need them.

Sadly, we have them on our 2017 Forrester - not dry good sound, plus we fight the connections because it’s hooked to moving parts
