New 2020 Cherokee Wolf Pup - Exterior Door Seperating
Hi all,
I have a brand new Cherokee Wolf Pup 17JG which is only a month old. Has anyone experienced the frictionless door separating on the hinge side of the door.
I’ve see an older post with something about this but not sure if it’s just a defect or a design issue and if Forest River has corrected the issue with anyone else?
I wonder if the door is to be replaced will it happen again.
Thanks
Falkoar

Think I saw several posts about this problem a week ago.

I have a 2021 Cherokee 264dbh about 2 months old. Just got back from a camping trip today and noticed my friction door is separating on the hinge side also.

Here are photos of my doors. The first three are my rear door, interior and exterior. The last one is my front door, exterior.

Holy smokes...tell us what dealer says and what fix is for this. Man, I'm regretting getting rid of my Jayco everyday I'm on this site!

We experienced the same problem but did not want to go through the warranty process and tie up our TT for a long time. My husband inserted 1/8inch rivets every 4 inches on the inside and the outside of the hinge door frame which resolved the issue for now.

Yes,
I noticed afterwards the outside of my door. The good thing is I took this back to the dealership and the entire door is being replaced under warranty and they have worked with Forest River to resolve this issue. They also noted they are working with the manufacturer who has been made aware of this issue since it’s not just my TT impacted.

I emailed Lippert and asked if there was a recall on the friction doors. They responded
there has been no recall

I called dealer and have an appointment scheduled. I also emailed the service manager, described the issue and sent photos.

Update:
Dealer contacted me. They are going to submit a warranty claim and once approved they will order two new doors. They will also try to find a temporary fix I can perform that will not void the warranty.

The temporary fix is to remove the bottom hinge. The bottom hinge is the friction hinge. Once removed the door easily opens and closes.
This is how I removed the lower hinge.
Remove the lower hinge from both the door side and the door jam side.
There are 6 screws holding the hinge on the door side.
There are 3 screws and 6 rivets holding the hinge on the door jam side.
There are 2 screws holding the hinge to the screen door.
I used a good center punch and a 1/8" titanium drill bit to drill out the 6 rivets.
Took about 30 minutes.
Taking the RV out tomorrow for the weekend. Hopefully it works out.

Mine is at the dealer...this is one of the issues on my warranty repair list. They are seeing a lot of these friction door issues....hope Lippert just recalls and addresses the problem. Too much stress on a lightweight door.

***UPDATE***
Our dealer has replaced our entry door. There are 2 manufacturers - Lippert and Challenger. They each have the same issue. Unfortunately, we couldn't replace with a standard door and had to replace with friction door. Dealer said he's surprised there hasn't been a recall of all of these doors from both manufacturers. He also said the replacements don't seem to have the issue so maybe something has been fixed in manufacturing processs???

That’s good to know. My dealer just informed me my replacement door is in so I’ll be able to confirm what happened after it’s done.
