Night Shades??
Just took delivery (7 hours at the dealer) of our new Roo 23ikss. The build sheet states it has night shades but no one could definitively tell me what they were. Some staff said night shades were a separate shade that you pull down with the translucent shade and one said it was a darker translucent shade. I didn't notice any different color between the new shades and the 2010 StarCraft 21rbss I just traded in.

Thanks Ford Idaho. Nothing looks even close to mine. They are just the normal translucent of what I had. hmm. Now, though I thought ordering them would be interesting. I have a hybrid. The bunks are translucent any way...

Just don't leave the shades down all the time- like when in storage. That spring looses tension fast.

Can you take a picture of your new shades? It would be interesting to see what you do have.

Hi Terrier,
Pictures aren't worth a thousand words but here they are. A little overcast here today. The top half looks a little darker since the window is open (tinted glass doubled up on top).

I have the same shades in my Surveyor. They are night shades in that one pulls them down at night to block the inside from view when the lights are on. During the day, the shades are raised. The tinted glass is all that is needed during the day.

Thanks Rmstack, I wonder what the difference is for the $95 less non night shades. They look pretty much the same as the ones that I had on my 2010 Travelstar. Did you pay extra for Night Shades?

At the risk of sounding uninformed, did they say "day/night" shades?
Demonstrated in the top left picture that Ford Idaho posted at link to.
If so, (and yours look identical to those in our 5er which are day/night) there is a thinner lower section and a thicker upper section of those shades.
At night, pull down the thicker portion. There will be a horizontal plastic bar that separates the day portion from the night portion.
Please don't be offended if day/night shades are something you're already familiar with and are not what is in your RV.

Hmmm in looking at some 2015 models of the 23ikss online I saw that "shades" are an upgrade/option. (scratching head)

It was an option but a part of the upgrade package.

There are Day/Night shades that are heavier for the evening blackout and more see through for daytime. My Surveyor Select 2014 was a special edition with several included upgrades that were also listed as options. These shades are listed as Pleated Shades and are just night shades one pulls down for the evening. This unit did not need day shades as all windows are tinted.

Thanks guys. Yeah, Night Shades was an option that wasn't in the convenience package. Tinted glass was a standard option. The dealer said that Night Shades would darken the interior to "night" light level. That's why I kind of chuckled since why would you care if you have bunk tents that are very translucent in the sun? It wasn't an option I had ordered, it came with the camper since I bought it off the lot. It matched pretty much all we wanted Except the raised fridge door panels (which I'm still trying to find).
