Out of synch awning

I have a Dometic powered awning. While opening it, I did not notice that one end had contacted a tree limb, with the result being that one side is out about 8 inches more than the other side. Now when I retract the awning, one side doesn't close and larch. Obviously I cannot go down the road with one end of the awning not latched. My question is, once I leave this spot and have a clear space to extend the awning, if I fully extend the awning and then retract it, will both ends then be back it synch? Has anyone else experienced this? Or do I need to call a repair tech to wind up the loose end? I am in this spot for another 6 weeks.
