No metal cover on mine.

What camper do you have?

BTW you posted this in the tow vehicle section.

We had an alum. clover on our 1988 Terry manual awning.................... Wish I had the cover on the newer ones.............. ours helped keep water out of the cover when rolled up.

I replaced my awning 2 years ago, very easy to do. I contacted carefree and they helped me order a new one based on the serial number off my old one. the carefree website was very user friendly and I could have done it all alone but I wanted to ensure I got it right as they tell you, once it's ordered it yours as they are all custom made. It took 2 hours to install in my driveway and my wife assisted lifting the drum on/off the trailer as it was to long to handle alone.

Again very easy to do and I think the awning cost less than $300 delivered.

ShadePro

ShadePro can fix any awning. I do not work for or know anyone who works for ShadePro. My personal experience.

Why would you want to eliminate the aluminum wrap?
