replacing awning fabric-mechenism

After installing the fabric, how many revolutions to rewind the torsion springs before mounting the roller tube?

13 - 14 on most but be very careful. That spring can throw a wrench through the side of a car.

Fair enough Youroo. Its a "manually" operated Sunchaser by Dometic model 802GN18.401B, manufactured/assembled 6/22/09, exactly 209 inches cap to cap with 17 feet of fabric and an 8 foot projection.

Thanks H. I did some additional digging and found the following for someone else that may search the forum this information. I figure if I pin the left side (facing the trailer) of the torsion springs, I won't have to worry about rewinding it.

the bead in the canvas usually wraps the end the end of the roller tube to prevent the canvas from sliding in the tube. thats hard to cut, to remove the canvas, with the end cap on. 9 winds rolled up and 15 extended for an 18 footer. heres a link to my method of replacement. and a dometic link as well. winds are found on page 19 of 29.
