Replacing pleated blinds

We would like to replace the pleated day/night blinds with faux wood blinds. Do they make special blinds for RVs that have more secure mountings than those used in the home? Can I just mount the generics from the big box stores? They are much less expensive than custom blinds and the fit is not critical since they are mounted outside the frame.

Woody,I would think that they would fit fine. I agree width would'nt be that critical. I don't like the pleated blinds either. Been thinking along the same lines as you.

Thanks for the response. I think they will work too. I'm just unsure the mounting brackets will hold up to the movement but I'm sure I can make it work.

It will depend on what you have in the way of frame work around the windows. Mine feel pretty solid.

Just be careful what you put behind stove. They should be metal not wood or fabric.

Update

**** UPDATE ******

I bought faux wood replacement blinds online from a company called Select Blinds, and I'm very pleased with them. The blinds are surface mount with very secure brackets that have a positive latch. The blinds can be ordered in exact widths AND length. No adjusting length like the blinds available locally. I like that you can specify which side you would like for the draw strings to be located, and you can select either draw cord or twist wand to adjust the angle of the slats.
My original blinds have a fabric valance at the top. The head rail on the new blinds was too thick to fit beneath the hardware and fabric of the valances. I remedied this by making a 3/4 inch spacer from wood and mounting the valance on this. I painted the spacers to match the other trim.
Total cost for 5 blinds, from 20 inch to 72 inch, was just over $200.
