I made curtains for all my windows that keep out the light in mornings. They work great and you can still easily open them for view. But do understand the problem on front of trailer

IMO, they should never stop making front windows, and always more windows on the entry side should be a must. For some reason, I notice more and more TT‘s have less windows on the entry side.
I like to see my campsite and what folks are doing outside by the fire or dining area. I like more windows all the way aroundfor safety sake.

I'm at a loss why anyone would want to pull in to a RV parking slot and can't see anything except out of your back window. I'm not a snoopy type but I want to see when someone or a park ranger stops by and don't want a surprise person sneaking up on us out of the blue to our door. Most camp activity occurs in front. I don't care to be walled off to what is going on around us and may affect us too.

My last two TT and now my Forester have windows all around. Love the light and sight. Would never consider no front window, but again, that is just me.

I purchased a 2020 rpod 190 in June. The front window was a big selling point to buying such a small camper (lots of natural light and didn’t feel nearly as cramped as the other floor plans). So I am pro-front window, but they need to do a better job to provide a cover or make it more durable. After 4 months in the camper, the window was shattered during travel probably from a rock or some type of debris. Luckily FR has offered to replace under warranty, but it’s a huge inconvenience. I made a template and had a thick and durable custom cover made with felt on the window side. I factory ordered my 2608bs and on the delivery ride to CA it received a rock chip with 3 cracks starting. It was a very painful process to have the window replaced. First replacement leaked water on the front counter. Next camping world (only factory authorized facility near me) reinstalled the window and so far ok but only per trailer wash, no rain here. You dont want to go through a replacement, believe me! The guy who made this great cover also installed the eyelets and has 2 locations one in So Cal and one in Az. He has my template. Email me if interested. Ron Huntington Beach CAClick image for larger version

Are the eyelets stick-on. If so have you tried it on the road 60/65 mph for period if time. Just wondering what kind (brand name and could I order the outlets myself)? Is the cover vinyl. Sure looks good. What material did you use to make the template? I know, lot of questions but I'm excited to get one of these made for my Flagstaff 832IKBS. Thanks

That's pretty awesome. Can you tell us approximately what the total cost was. I might be interested in one.
TIA,

Charlie

I'd be interested in hearing the details on how it's applied and the cost to have one made.
I have the same window in my current trailer and already have one small chip.
Thanks
Gary

Just kidding, but he may not want to provide any more information due to a patent pending.

Been there. Took over two years to get my patent approved. The problem with something like this is, a few mods to the original design and he's got competition anyway.

It appears that the clips holding the window cover on are fastened to the glass instead of the fiberglass front cap, what kind of fasteners are they? I really like that cover!

Sorry been enjoying my time off work this holiday. For my cover I chose the option of using stainless steel "T" fittings and they are screwed into the fiberglass (2 screws each). I had it installed Jan 4 2020 and paid well under $200 including install. Martin Rojas @ https://goldenhorizonrv.com/contact/Click image for larger version

The cover is attached using "T" fittings screwed into the fiberglass (2 screws each fitting). Sandwiched between the vinyl and the felt is a plastic type padding. I had it installed Jan 2020 and I will say I paid well under $200. Martin Rojas is the owner and he works out of 2 locations: Boulder City Nevada and Anaheim Calif. I have probably put over 2000 miles at speeds up to 75 mph with no issues! I left my template with Martin (2019 Rockwood Ultralite 2608BS) https://goldenhorizonrv.com/contact/

It was made by Golden Horizon in Anaheim but their main location is Boulder City NV (Martin Rojas, owner). I chose stainless steel T fittings which are screwed into the fiberglass (2 screws each). We have done about 2000 miles at up to 80 mph. Solid! It is heavy duty vinyl with padding and heavy duty felt against the glass. Martin uses same design as his knee pad for his work installing custom class A motorhome bras with 8 years usage and no issues. I taped buchter paper up and ran my finger along the glass then traced with a pencil after I removed it. Martin installed the eyelets. Martin has my 2019 Rockwood 2608BS template.

We had one 17' TT that only had 4 windows. That thing was like crawling into a cave. It was down right depressing to spend time in it. We owned it for a grand total of 8 weeks, 4 of which were on the road. ON the third day of that trip, the boss told me that we were selling that TT and getting something with a lot of windows. When we got home, I sold it and started looking for what amounted to a green house on wheels. We found our 17FQ Viking and love it. There are windows everywhere except the bathroom. The front window came with a fiberglass cover that is easy to open and does a good job of covering the glass.
I will never own another TT without as many windows as possible.

I'm in total agreement on windows. Our fist TT was a dark cave, 2nd one much better, but our Forester is just wonderful. See out the front, a huge window in the bedroom, and two nice large windows across from table and couch. Two small windows in bedroom slide out and one by the kitchen counter. What a difference when you're inside - don't feel like you're in a dungeon. You can see the beautiful environment around you - isn't that why you go to different locations?
