solid steps

We have a 2018 Cherokee 274vfk. The solid flip down steps cannot be leveled with the ground when we fold them down. When we adjust the legs to make them level with the ground the door will not close. Is there any other adjustment that can be made to allow them to adjust correctly?

I think about all you can do is scrape away an area where the legs rest. Many of us replaced the drawbridge style steps; I did not have room in my RV garage to extend them. I personally chose the Torklift's Glowstep Revolution steps and am extremely happy with it. Easy install, good help when I called.

Under normal conditions, the steps should come down far enough to allow the door to open/close when on level ground and the step leveling legs are all the way up. You then extend the leg(s) to compensate for unlevel front to rear if necessary.

You do know each leg is adjustable?

In unlevel conditions (side to side) where the door side ground is high, you may experience a situation where even with the legs all the way up, the door won't close but that shouldn't be everywhere or every time. In that situation, all you can do is dig a hole(s) for the step legs or run the wheels/tires up on blocks or raise your hydraulic leveling system if equipped.

Have you never been able to use the steps and open/close your door?

I'll second that the Torklift steps are a great, though pricey product.

Before you unhook check your steps, if the door doesn’t close without rubbing raise the trailer with leveling blocks under each tire.
