Turn Window into Sliding Patio Door?

Has anyone ever heard of replacing a window (the one in the slide above the dining table) with a sliding patio door?

I would think that structurally, it would not be possible without a LOT of reinforcement of the walls and frame of the slide. You would need a heavy header and posts to frame the door, and frame components on the slide to take the loads of the posts. You are talking a lot of weight and $$$ to do this.

It would probably be better to get a unit with a sliding door already installed form the factory.
