When opening camper door, a small stream of water hits the steps

As stated, after it rains, when we open the camper door on our Rockwood 2104S, a small stream of water hits the steps. There was a very, very small gap between the black strip at the bottom and the actual door. We ran a small bead of silicone between the black strip and the door. But when I opened the door last night, my feet got wet again.

Any ideas where the water is coming from and any ideas on how to stop it? Naturally I’m concerned with that “water” word.

Here’s a photo showing where the water is coming from.

Thanks for any advice and words of wisdom.

Either your door window or lock have a leak.
My window and door lock both leaked. I washed the trailer and noticed the door was wet on the inside. I pulled the interior trim ring on the window and sprayed the outside again, sure enough, saw a small drip where the factory seal to the glass leaked. Fixed that with silicone around the glass on the exterior.

The door lock has a foam gasket on the exterior. When the factory installed that, they folded a corner of the gasket causing another small leak to the inside. I pulled the lock and applied butyl tape over the gasket and reinstalled.

The doors are just filled with styrofoam and water gets inside the skin from leaks and runs down to the area you pointed out. Try both the above fixes.

Thanks so much for the reply. We looked at the door window last night and noticed it was silicone caulked around. And we noticed the door lock/handle area wasn’t. If the styrofoam gets wet, what’s the ramifications?

Styrofoam will absorb water over time. (the styrofoam in the door is big beads, not like a coffee cup) That water inside the door could freeze causing the skin to expand. Either way, you'll want to stop water infiltration.
Try the water hose with someone standing inside. Start from the bottom and work your way up to the top of your door. Don't blast it but simulate rain. Have the person inside look for leaks.
Also, if you have a door hold open receiver catch at the bottom of the door, check those screws, Remove them and fill each hole with sealant and reinstall. If the screws are rusty, you know you have water inside the door.

Check the flashing above the door to make sure it is caulked.

Place a sliver of paper between the door and trailer then close the door. The paper should offer resistance to being pulled out ,try it in different places and try it again .if the paper slips with no resistance the door may need adjusted.
