Window Opening Mechanism Broken

During our last weekend trip I noticed that one of the arms which facilitate opening of the seamless window in the bedroom of our ROCKWOOD 2703WS was detached and broken. It looks like an easy fix if I can get the replacement mechanism. I have a note out to the FR rep who is supposed to be the POC. Anyone ever have this happen?

That didn't take long..........

Just to update, I emailed Forest River over last weekend and received an email on MONDAY with the part number and the cost of the item. That was fast work.

Can you post that info please? Knowing how cheesy those things are having a spare or two might be a good idea.

Marty, can't really tell from your pics, is the wheel actually missing from the arm or has the arm just slipped out of the track? X2 on posting the part number please

The wheel is missing completely. I wish it was that simple!! The part number is 10-19668A for the 9.5 inch arm.

Whatever you do do not open that window up past where the linkage would allow it. Bad things happen as the j track that the window snaps into the frame on the trailer will bend and its aluminum. I found out the hard way in the middle of the night during a thunderstorm one week after getting my new trailer after the wheels came out of the tracking.
After spending 3 hours cursing with only a pair of vise grips to straighten it I drilled out the rivets holding the handle bracket then installed the rollers then used some machine bolts and nuts to reattach.

Received the Part

Just a follow-up to let folks know that Fred Yoder, the Forest River Rockwood/Flagstaff warranty bubba (fyoder@forestriverinc.com), shipped my replacement mechanism to me and it arrived on 5 May.

Overall, a very good experience with this warranty issue... small as it is.

That was easy.

The new mechanism came with two new pop rivets. Removed the screen; removed the small handle (small Phillips screw); drilled out the old pop rivets; removed the old mechanism; slid the new roller wheels into the mechanism and placed the new winding mechanism back into the slot; pop riveted the mechanism (two pop rivets) back into place; replaced the screen; cleaned up the mess; admired the handy work.

The whole process took about 20 minutes.

Marty the same mechanism on my Rockwood 2703 WS broke today except it was the crank part not the linkage arms. Pulling down the road and hit a bump and the bedroom window popped open. Did they send the whole mechanism or just the arm you needed. I will call Forest River tommorrow to start the process.
