2003 Sunseeker LE 3100 Slide Out Question

Which battery powers the slide out, the chassis or the rv batteries? Twice after my wife either put the slide out or in we could not start the engine. Only after running the generator could we get the engine started again. Which brings up another question, does the generator charge the chassis battery also?

How old are your batteries, and how is the distilled water levels? An RV battery generally will last about 5 maybe 6 years before replacement is needed. The chassis battery is just as it says; for the chassis- or everything powered by the chassis manufacturer's body/frame. The RV side battery powers the slides, lights inside the camper, the water heater, the refrigerator, basically everything except the Microwave and the A/C. This is all controlled by the RV converter, which "converts" the 110 when plugged in to 12v and charges the RV battery, and when on battery power, it provides that same 12v through the RV battery to those same items. The chassis battery is charged by the main engine's alternator, and a SMALL amount of juice is trickled into the RV battery when the engine runs. The RV bat should not have anything to do with the engine not starting, IMO. Good Luck, I'd have those batteries checked out first thing, and go from there. Randy

House battery operates the slide. Also the fridge, fans, lights, and heater fan.
