Just set up camp on the beach and my DW pushes the button to extend the slide as I am finishing up outside. The slide extends all the way out and she comes out of the TT and says, "We have an issue with the slide, I can't explain. Just come and look" Oh no, now what?
I am going to try to upload a pic, but, upon entering the TT I see a six inch wide piece of thin hard plastic about two feet long sticking out from underneath one end of the slide floor. I back the slide in about a foot and the piece comes loose and out from under the floor. I then put the slide out all the way and all looks well for the rest of our trip.
Upon further inspection under the extended slide, this piece of plastic seems to be a "slider surface" attached to the underside of the slide that rests on a small thick plastic "stud" on the floor of the TT serving as a smooth surface to let the slide "slide" in and out. Now the slide only has about half of this "sliding surface" left on the under side of the slide.
OK, now here's my question. Can this piece be replaced without having to remove the slide?
We purchased this 2008 TT new from a dealer in 2010 and have had it for almost 8 years. So of course, out of warranty. I am pretty handy and have "fixed" a few things over the years and I'm hoping someone came give me some insight as to how this might be done without taking out the slide. I'm too close to the situation to think strategically right now.
Any helpful hints would be greatly appreciated.
It does appear that the slide will still work but I'm sure over time more damage will occur due to sliding directly on the exposed surface.
Thanks in advance for any insight.
