97 Coachmen Catalina slide out problem

I recently purchased a 97 Coachmen Catalina 5th wheel. The slide out when fully retracted the top portion of the slide out touches and seals against the trailer body but the bottom is away from the trailer body about 2 inches how do I adjust for that? Also it will not go in or out on its own without help it seems like it's dragging it moves a little and then stops any advice would be appreciated

First thing I would do is check the condition of my batteries and or converter to make sure I'm getting full voltage to the slide motor. with the slide extended lube the rails and look for dragging. Lastly on the rails of most slides there are adjustment bolts turning one way or the other adjusts how the slide fits the side of the trailer. Most slides are designed to smash the gasket about 50%

I just installed a brand new deep cycle battery last night I have loot the rails didn't see any obvious dragging your issues on the rails not sure where the adjustments would be located to seal it properly

You will find that your system has a control box and a set of relays in a cabinet below where your switch is located. It senses the load on the motor and shuts it off when the amp draw reaches a preset point. That is why you need to continually cycle the switch to get the slide to move. We throw away the relays and control box and re wire it with a new style slide switch. This allows full power to the motor. You will find it will operate faster and have the power to pull in the slide at the bottom. We have done this change many times.
