Yes. If you look underneath you'll see two "racks" which are the support tubes with gear teeth on the bottom and next to the frame there is a shaft with two pinion gears on it, one engaged in each "rack".

When the single motor (linear actuator) pushes out or pulls in the slide, this equalizer mechanism makes sure the front and rear move the same distance.


Side note, these support tubes need to be kept clean and some good dry lube spray applied as routine maintenance. Ignoring this maintenance will lead to slow slide out movement and eventually sticking that will just yield a ratcheting sound when your slide sticks during extend or retract.

The slide shouldn't be a problem but I'd recommend that you unplug the trailer from the tow vehicle. If you leave it plugged in you can discharge the tow vehicle battery when using 12v items in the trailer. You don't want to have a no start in the morning.

I agree with the commenters that say to put the hitch load on the jack, and not the tow vehicle. I also agree that unplugging the trailer from truck is a great idea. We normally run the stabilizers down when putting the slides out, too. As long as the truck is hitched, no one will likely think you are homesteading.
