Defective Slide? Warranty?? Help Please!!

Last summer we purchased a beautiful 2010 Wildwood 403FB. We just love it. From the beginning we noticed an uneveness with the main slide. The dinette felt like it was falling towards the window and the sofa felt uneven. When on the hinge area, there was a bulge that actually hurt your foot if we stepped on it. We communicated with the dealer ASAP. They thought it was a leveling issue. Long story short...dealer now says they can't fix it and that they need to come and take pictures and contact Forest River. Anyone have any advice for us. PS dealer is also a family member...very awkward!

Keep your cool - but be professional and firm at the same time -

If you think you are gonna loose your cool - stop - walk away for a minute - regroup and then come back with a clear head.

I would think having a family member as the dealer they are more apt to help you then leave you in the cold

Thanks for the advice. We are going to visit the dealer tomorrow and chat a bit. Right now what we feel we need is more information. Considering the investment and family connections, we all need this to go well.

Thanks again!

If it is a major problem in the slide mechanism, they will probably have to send it back to the factory, which all should be covered under warranty. Make a list of any other flaws so that they can address all the issues at the same time.

Old saying:

Never use a relative as a lawyer; a realtor; financial planner; or doctor.

Never buy a car or a house from one. (Now add RV)

Conflict of interest in the first case; you need to be able to fire them without a backward glance.

Lose/Lose in the second case. The buyer will not be happy with the sale and will always assume the seller knew about any later defect (even years after the sale) or that they should have gotten a better price.

For the seller; no matter how much "after the sale" service you provide; the midnight calls about problems or questions will never end because they know your home phone number and where you live.

Oh, a post script: If you use a friend for the above; be prepared to lose them. It will be inevitable.
