Forest river electric slide out

I had to use the manual override to move my slide in. When I tried to bring it out, there was a loud bang. Now the motor shaft spins freely. This is a salem travel trailer. I think I I came in too far

You may have sheared the pin that drives the gearsets.
Can you post a pic of the motor and gearbox?

It seems to be locked up. I can't get any movement out of it. I don't have a clue what's wrong. I'll just have to live with the slide in. I give up!

If you move the slide in too far, how do you release it?

Some pictures of the slide mechanism would help.
There should be a manual shaft end on the gearbox that you can use to move the slide in or out. There should be a manual crank somewhere in the RV, but most people use a cordless drill and adapter if they have to manually move the slide.

If that is the remains of a roll pin...you broke it. Now, not a common failure, easy fix...drive it out from both sides and put in a replacement.

Now that said, it takes an awful lot of force to break a roll pin of that size. Make sure the gear box isn't bound up or something else like dunning against the stop..

Inside the tube there is nothing to attach it to. It's flat. Broken off?

Well one side is a drive slot but how does it attach to the drive itself. Look inside both sides and see if there is a shaft. Probably on the side with the o ring seal. There is a shaft somewhere, with a peice of a roll pin in it.

Not sure what kind of slide it is but I find that hard to believe. Guess it depends on what they consider "the whole slide." Eli Whitney is rolling over in his grave...
