Helpless in Jim Thorpe PA

We have a 2020 Coachmen Leprechaun 311 FS. Our bed slide out is stuck in the retracked position. Looking at it from the inside, when I push the extend button, the left side starts to go out a few inches and goes crooked and stops. The right side doesn't move at all. I can't get any service people out and haven't gotten a call back or email back form Forest River/Coachmen yet. Is there anyway to manually put the slide out out? It's a Lippert Schwintek system. I disconnected the wiring harness from the slide out motor on the side that won't move, thinking I could then slide it out but it won't budge. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

These Schwintek slides must be the biggest failure since the creation of slide outs, but they keep on using them.

Your problem is pretty common as I read about this very thing here all of the time. Thankfully, I don’t have one, so I can’t give you a solution, but I can assure you, if you wait just a little while, somebody is going to come along with an answer for you.

I've attached lots of info on Schwinteks. Finding the controller may be your first problem. They often hide them behind panels that don't really open up. It may have 2 hinges on one side and another on the other side, like mine:

I would look in the storage area under the slide. Mine is behind a false panel in the corner of the storage compartment. I don't have the MH you have but if I were engineering it that is where I would hide the panel.

So I have the same controller/motor setup in my slide and I have always wondered what to do in case of an emergency. Is there any way to manually extend/retract this typf of a slide if the thing completely fails? Say, the unit dies, wiring breaks, there is a complete loss of power... My fear is that I end up someplace and cannot retract the slide in order to tow it. What's the best way to retract this type of slide in a total failure situation?

You have to remove a screw from the motor, lift it up, to dis-engage it, then push in the slide. See 0:32 here:

Very helpful, thank you. Mine is a 2015 model year. He talks about this being a new system, where the old system required removing all kinds of screws. Any idea when they made that switch?

No. But the video was posted in 2014, so I think you're good.

Thanks for the responses! We did find the control box but everything we read or videos we've viewed are issues of not being able to retract. Our issue is that we can't extend the bed slide out. I guess it's this period of coronavirus that we can't even get a tech out to look at it.

Is the controller blinking a code?

You said you disconnected the harness to the side not moving, hoping to get it to move... did you check for voltage in the harness plug?

RV shop in White Haven PA

I was stuck near Jim Thorpe and had some excellent work done by Evolution Custom Coach in White Haven PA. Phone is 570 443 5700. Highly recommend. They came to hickory run sp to weld my RV, so they can do mobile.

That's great to know! I'll give them a call in the morning.

Does it work if you put it in override?
Press the button on the controller 6 times and hold on the 7th. Then quick use the slide control to move slide?

If the cable is disconnected from the motor that is what it will do.

Most times the molded harness goes bad. Something in the motor assembly called a hall sensor. This tells the controller the motor is working or not.

I would use some contact cleaner, likely dont have that. Try Isopropal alcohol to clean the contacts. Then if you have a partner there have them run the slide button and wiggle the connector to see if you can get it to work out.

I had a Schwintek Failure first trip in 2012 with my Rockwood Suppler Slide. Dealer needed up replacing everything and rebuilding the slide.

I have a 2018 Landmark Louisville with a slide in slide. Both Schwintek. Knock on wood they have been very reliable.
