Inside seals keep falling off

Every time we drive down the road, the inside rubber seals at both ends of our slide fall off. We have tried putting them back on, but they just fall off again.

What are you using to hold them in place?

Every R/V seems to be different.

I don't have any photos right now, but they slide on to a "track" which runs up the wall beside the slide. They don't always fall completely off, but usually start coming off at the top.


Other than the "track", there does not appear to be anything that holds them in place.



The one towards the rear of the trailer is particularly hard to get back on because it is almost inaccessible.

Without seeing any photos, I would suggest putting in track and crimpsides of track to hold in. I may be totally wrong !

use a dab of RTV at both the top and bottom of the seal to hold it in place

Is it sliding out of the track or pulling out of the track?

There should be a small screw top and bottom at the end of the track and into the rubber. Probably no more than 3/8 to 1/2 in length.

I'm can't say for certain whether it is "sliding" or" pulling" out of the track, but since it seems to start at the top, I'm going to guess pulling.


There is no screw that I can find at either top or bottom.

It is nothing more than a "Keeper" screw.

I just put the front seal back on. The "track" is basically a "T" shape piece of aluminum with the top of the "T" facing inward. The seal just kind of snaps around the outside of the "T".


There is a wire (slide motor connection) which runs up through the center of the seal. The seal is the only thing that holds this wire in place. The connector at the top has disconnected twice when the seal came off.


There is no evidence that there was ever a screw at the top or bottom to retain the seal.


I think Seadog may have the answer. A couple dabs of RTV (assuming it will stick to whatever kind of rubber the seal is made of) may keep it from coming loose.


I'm not sure what to do about the rear seal since that end of the slide is right up against the refrigerator, and it would take either a Munchkin or a contortionist to get in there (a Munchkin contortionist would be even better ).

I had similar issues with the horizontal seal above the slide - and I did what bzac1954 stated - I added a screw to one end of the rubber bubble seal. It haven't slid since.
The upright seals already had the screw. I had to re-route the slide motor wires, as the way they were installed, the insulation on the wires would have been chewed thorough on sharp edges.
