I would look at the auto reset fuse(s) and charge status of batteries.
If the action stops, and then can resume after a few seconds, it could be the auto reset fuse tripping, and then resetting. They do this when there is low power due to bad connections or low battery. They can also just wear out over time. I've replaced all of mine (auto reset and resettable fuses) over time.
