Large Slide doesnt open but will close

I have a wildcat and the large slide makes a low racheting sound when trying to open, when I hit close its a loud racheting sound.

I used the manual crank and opened the slide 3/4 of the way then tried it and it closes fine and only let it come in a few inches. I tried to open it and it opened all the way.

I closed the slide and tried to open it and it was a low racheting sound but then kicked in and opened.

Should I be concerned? I am going to spray the pinion track while it is out but could that be a sign the motor gearbox is going out? Hard to trust it.

I just replaced the bedroom closet slide gearbox a few days ago due to a broken gear. I am not having the best luck right now. haha.

Thoughts?

Appreciate the input

Mike

Lube all the parts and test the operation the ratcheting sound is a designed feature to protect the slide operator when reaching limit of travel. It might be that the slide was sticking and exceeded the torque of that system and thus the ratcheting. I would lube it good and test full travel several times. good luck let the forum know what you find.

Thanks, will pull the covering off the underbelly, I was hoping not to do that. I will try and do it this afternoon once it warms up some. I also want to see what brand of motor etc it has so I can get parts just in case.

for now I sprayed the rails really good with slide rail lube and ran the slide in and out several times, will take the sheeting off when its not so cold out, I soaked the rails. So far so good but want to remove the panel so see what it looks like under there and soak the gear and inspect the motor and all.

Thanks for the info, will keep ya posted when I take it apart.

If its moving in an out like it should enjoy the camping season and check things out when you are getting ready to put it away for the winter I think thats what I would do.
