Leaving a slide out
We will be putting our new wildwood on a permanent site and will only be in it during the winter months.
Should we leave the slides out permanently ?

People go both ways but, the way I look at it, is that the more you leave exposed to the elements, the more upkeep and maintenance has to be done. I'd leave them in if you'll be away for an extended time.

Ours is on a permanent site year round.
From April to September we use the trailer on weekend and holidays.
During this time period the slides are always out, no sense bringing them in and out every weekend. My thought is needless wear and tear on the motors.
I will go up every once in awhile and sweep them off.
From September to April we do not use our trailer so we close the slides. Close them up and out of the elements of snow, ice, melting and freezing and cold.
Actually we only move the slides twice a year. Slide them out in the spring and slide them back in, in the fall.

My covered pad is next to my house so when I'm not camping, I leave it out. If it were somewhere else that I couldn't see by just looking out the window I would store it closed.

Your choice
I am setup permanent at our camp resort, we move the unit one or two times a year, we use it all year and we leave our super slide out all the time except when we move it... It is your choice to leave it in or out it will not hurt anything.

We leave our slides out during the season, April 15 - October 15. Pull them in when we close in October. Never had any problems.

Hey Jack, glad you stuck around.
Our slide is out unless the unit is moving. We've done that since the very first RV we ever owned (I think that was a 73 model with a tip out), and haven't had a problem.
As some others said, it's a personal preference.

I leave mine out at home so I can get in there and do stuff.
