Manual operation of slide out..please help.

Hi, I am a novice camper owner. I have a 2008 Wildwood LA BHSS. The park that my camper is located at has not turned electricity on yet and I do not own a generator. The only thing I want to do is put my slideout out so I can begin doing some cleaning and what not. I know there is a manual way to do this, but I cannot find info on how to. I read that there is a tool that you can use on some part of the motor transmission cover to extend it manually, but I have no idea where that is and the directions don't say in the trailers manual. Anyone have any advice? Thanks for your time.

battery is dead...been sitting out all winter.

Look on the door side of the camper opposite the slide, do you see a hole towards the bottom of the skirting that is directly across from the slide ?

yes, but I'm thinking that hole was supposed to be used like for the gas line for exterior grill

you should have a crank in your camper , you stick that in the hole and line it up with nut on the back side and crank away !

hmmm...its not the same crank that is used for the jacks is it? the gold colored hand crank approx. 3 feet long

Okay...thanks a lot. That helps a lot. I had no idea it was that easy. I kept reading about having to access the motor through panels under the camper, etc.

its very possible but sometimes you had two cranks . one for jacks one for slide out.
you should be able to look in hole and see the nut and or round shaft with the roll pin in it.

On some units you DO have to access motor but as long as you have a hole on the opposite side across from slide out that will be your manual operation point.

lol I have heard of people throwing away that second crank cause they never knew what it was used for............... till they needed it ......

Can't you just plug in the truck and use your truck's battery to extend the slide? I'm completely against manual labor if I can take an easy way out...

maybe if I hook some jumper cables up between my Jeep and the dead battery on the camper it will charge enough to open the slide and then I'm good!!!

No, like just plug in the 7-pin connector and see how it goes (as if you were gonna tow it).

What ependydad is saying is plug in your harness plug just as if you we're going to tow that will give you power to open it up

hmmm...I hadn't thought of that. Interesting idea. I guess I never considered what all would be powered just through the 7-pin. I thought that just powered lights and what not, but you could be on to something.

Thanks. I'm realized I'm being (unintentionally) painfully vague. Thanks for translating!

If that doesn't work- I'd be tempted to move the battery from the jeep, connect up the old one and run the slides out and then out the battery back into the jeep. I doubt it would kill it enough to need a jump. (Pure guess, to be honest, though.)

Otherwise, to the OP- read up on battery disconnects. At the end of the season, make sure your battery has a full charge and then disconnect it. It should essentially hold it's charge all winter with only losing a little power. That way, you won't have hassles next year.
