Slide drive mechanism

29+3 wildwood bumper pull TT. Slide will not push out or retract. Have to hand crank with crescent wrench on square tubing connecting the two geared rails that slide rides on.

The drive motor makes the usual noise when you push the button. The bolt head on the end of the actuator motor turns when you run the motor, it is just that the drive rod evidently does not screw in and out to push/pull the slide. I am planning to take the drive rod down and slide the two PVC sheaths apart to expose the rod. Anyone know what I should expect to see? Is there two seperate rods inside the PVC sheathing connected by a coupler that may have a pin that is sheared? Is it an allthread that may have come uncoupled??? Any suggestions?

thanks in advance for any help.
