Slide out awning

Hi everyone. So I'm a new owner a 2018 Salem 30kqbss. I don't know the exact length as of now, but indo know that my slide out is not prepped for an awning, which after cleaning it an what not on a rainy day in my driveway, we closed up the slide and realized that when u close it and it rains, it is going to bring in water as the water is sliding down the sides of the slide out. So I want to add an awning to cut back on this issue on the future.
Having said that, has anyone installed an aftermarket one, for example like a Solerà, and drilled through the exterior to install the brackets and track? If so, good or bad idea?

Thank you in advance

If the seals are good the slide should not bring in much water when wet.

It's not a lot of water but enough where it will drip on the floor, and i see that being an issue later to come.

Installing a topper is not that big a deal . 2 person , need butal tape to seal rails and mounting brackets , don't strip the screw on the rail as most just screw into the side with no extra backing . read the instructions set the rail higher then the instructions say as you want flow off the topper and not allow water to settle on the topper . some have wind guards when traveling some had an anti bellow device on the roller . I've install the carefree toppers and bought from shade pro . best prices i could find but they are a couple months out as they are built per order

Double check there is actual wood/metal stud in the wall of the slide where the mounts bolt into the top of the slide. The installer on mine assumed there was, and on one top corner it was hollow.. the dang thing ripped right out of the wall. Had to open up the wall of the slide ane put a "header" in the wall for it to bolt to.

Here's a 2019 same model as yours. Might reach out to FR for particulars.
