Slide out cease help needed

2016 Salem by Forest River T21RBS
Slide out would NOT go out during our trip. We can hear the hum of the motors but no go. Right side wants to go out and slides out only 1 inch but the left, nope. Had to camp As Is.
Got home ok, and we are trying to see what the heck happened. Cannot manually get it out to even replace the motor ourselves. STUCK! About ready to get rid of it as is since local RV places are scheduling 6-12 months out at exuberant prices for mechanical prices.
HELP needed.
Any suggestions at all at this point? Hubby is mechanically savvy but not a pro.
Already have the schematics and have picked those a part.
Thank you!!!

What type of slideout do you have? Looks like it may be a Schwintek slide. If it is, you need to find the controller and see if there are any errors showing on it.

Silly question, but you never know - Have you looked under the slide for anything that might have roller/slid under there and is causing a jam?

If it's a Schwintek it's possible one motor went bad, or something is binding just one side. As suggested, look for the controller, sometimes mounted inside a storage bin upside down on the top, and Google for the codes.

Thanks for the replies!!

We weren’t too sure on the mechanism- Schwintek or Lippert, so we located schematics for both. We did locate the control module under the sink in the bathroom. After our due diligence it looks as though the left side motor is stuck in the “in” position. We are leaning towards a bad motor in that left side. The right one works as it should.
Did check for any snags, blocking etc all over the unit. Nothing. Seems to be clear.
Just wish it was easier to disassemble in order to get to that motor, you know?

Check out this video. This girl has done it all & produces some very helpful videos on her trials & tribulations of full time Rv'ing.

If it is a schwintek slide & you can get the motor out. it may not necessarily be bad, just broken wires. She shows how she repaired that issue.

Good luck.

That video is the one to watch. Its not a difficult job, but does require a bit of ladder work and physical contortion at times.
